Precinct Urban Planning provided town planning assistance to facilitate the renovation and extension of outdoor facilities at the rear of the Withcott Hotel. The proposed development incorporates cosmetic built form changes and improvements to overall operational functionality.The project involves the creation of a formalised outdoor beer garden and bar area that can be clearly defined for granting of a permanent liquor license. Approval was also sought to replace the existing rear outdoor area with a larger covered space and new performance stage, while adding improved weather protection and internal access from existing function facilities to enable the Withcott Hotel to cater for larger events. The proposal also provides for the addition of a new storage facility for the existing bottle shop.

Precinct Urban Planning provided VetLove with town planning assistance to prepare and lodge a development application for Veterinary Services at 201 Ruthven Street, North Toowoomba. This development involves the reuse of an existing commercial shop fronting Ruthven Street. The northern suburbs of Toowoomba are undersupplied with Veterinary Services and the development will provide a new clinic with greater ease of access to the northern areas of the city. The development will include a waiting room, office, 3 consultation rooms, surgery & treatment room, pharmacy, x-ray bay, animal wards, staffroom and kitchen.

Tardevelop Pty Ltd engaged Precinct Urban Planning to provide town planning services to prepare and lodge a development application for a Mixed Use Commercial Service Centre at 10804-10806 Warrego Highway, Charlton. This Mixed Use Service Centre includes a supermarket, speciality shops, motel, tavern, liquor barn and fast food tenancy. The development, approved by Toowoomba Regional Council in February 2024, will serve the expanding major industrial precinct of Charlton Wellcamp.

The Ipswich Turf Club engaged Precinct Urban Planning to provide town planning services for the preparation and lodgement of a development application for the installation of lights around the existing track so as to facilitate the opportunity for twilight racing. Precinct also previously assisted the Ipswich Turf Club with the town planning requirements to establish the Barn Restaurant at the club. The Barn Restaurant will assist with the creation of a racing precinct and is intended to complement the other facilities on the site, creating diversity in the types of functions and gatherings that can be undertaken at the Ipswich Turf Club. The Ipswich Turf Club along with Racing Queensland aims to make the racecorse a key regional racing facility. The Ipswich Turf Club contributes to the local economy and the improved facilities s along with more track meets mean that the Ipswich Turf Club will grow in the future and provide more local employment and greater economic benefits for both Ipswich and Queensland.

Precinct Urban Planning was engaged by iOR Petroleum Pty Ltd to provide town planning advice and assistance associated with the development application for an unmanned Service Station in Ormeau, Qld and is located on a B-double route and is close to the wider arterial road network. The project aims to maximise convenience, safety and manoeuvrability for heavy vehicles from the external road network, into and out of the site. The development will be fully landscaped and there will be an amenities building which has a self-service retail room, two toilet/shower rooms, a storeroom and plant room. The Service Station will not be open to the general public and will only be available to account customers. The site will be accessible 24 hours a day / 7 days a week to service the needs of the trucking industry.

Cooper Commercial engaged Precinct Urban Planning to provide town planning assistance associated with the planning requirements for an extension to increase operations of the existing food and drink outlet comprised of “The Plate” Restaurant, “The Paddock” Butcher Shop and “The Shed” Drive-through Café in Delacey Street, North Toowoomba. The extension of the premises included the development of a brewery, cold room and keg room to enhance “The Plate” Restaurant. This enabled the business to expand its popular operations and provided additional facilities at the existing location for locals and tourists to enjoy.

BNB Development Corporation Pty Ltd engaged Precinct Urban Planning to provide town planning assistance associated with the development of a medical centre, ancillary pharmacy and professional office on land at 159–161 Brisbane Road, Booval. The project involved the establishment of a single storey building with two tenancies. The project included the removal of the existing older pre-1946 buildings on the site. This application was Impact Assessable and as such, involved public notification during the assessment process. The development is on a corner site situated on a prominent elevated area that is associated with the gateway into Ipswich. It will contribute to the existing diversity of buildings in the area and will also cater for the surrounding population.

The project involved the renovation of an existing mid 1900s dwelling to accommodate up to three medical practitioners. The medical centre included a reception and waiting area, procedure room, staff room, file room/storage area, 12 on-site carparks and ambulance bay. This project enabled the development of a new medical facility for the public while maintaining the integrity of the neighbourhood through the preservation of the original streetscape.

Precinct Urban Planning was engaged by Harristown Childcare Trust to provide town planning assistance associated with the Material Change of Use to develop a purpose-built Food and Drink Outlet complex at Anzac Avenue and Devine Street Harristown. The project involved development of five tenancies including drive-through service aisles for two of the tenancies. This development creates a service node that will improve access and convenience to food and drink, fast food and casual dining opportunities for local residents, workers and businesses as well as commuters along Anzac Avenue. Also, it will increase the level of access to social meeting venues, casual dining and takeaway facilities. The development will increase economic and community benefits both locally for Harristown and for the wider area of Toowoomba.

Precinct Urban Planning was engaged by Mills Toowoomba Pty Ltd to provide town planning assistance associated with a Priority Development Area (PDA) development application for Material Change of Use for various commercial uses to allow for the re-purposing of existing industrial buildings on the land at 269 Ruthven Street, Toowoomba as a commercial and retail precinct. The project involved looking at the suitability of the proposed commercial and retail mixed use development with respect to the provisions of the Economic Development Act 2012 and the Toowoomba Railway Parklands PDA Development Scheme 2016, given the site’s location within the PDA area.  The subject land is the site of the former Defiance Flour Mill and is identified as a State Heritage Place on the Queensland Heritage Register and a Significant Heritage Place under the Toowoomba Railway Parklands PDA Development Scheme 2016. The development was designed to ensure that heritage values associated with the place were maintained and protected.

Precinct Urban Planning was engaged by 47 Industrial Pty Ltd to provide town planning advice and assistance associated with the development of a self-storage facility in Charlton. The facility consisted of 7 buildings which housed 565 storage units available for lease by the general public. The development included a security gate at the access point setback from the frontage to allow a vehicle to queue while waiting for the gate to open, without conflicting with other vehicles on Moorebank Rd. The internal layout of the site allows for most vehicle types to appropriately manoeuvre throughout the site. All internal movement areas only allow for one-way traffic. The design means that vehicles accessing storage units can park in proximity to the units without impeding traffic movement through the site. The project provided for a need within the community for long and short-term storage options.

Precinct Urban Planning was engaged by the Toowoomba Clubhouse Association Incorporated to assist in obtaining development approval for the establishment of a commercial laundry. The proposed laundry facility is a social enterprise of the Toowoomba Clubhouse and will provide employment and training opportunities for Clubhouse members. The facility included a laundry processing area and ancillary staff amenities. The Toowoomba Clubhouse secured a nine year contract with St Vincent’s Hospital to process approximately 25 tonnes of linen per week within the laundry.

Precinct Urban Planning was engaged by GW Unit Trust to provide town planning assistance associated with the establishment of two commercial tenancies at the rear of an existing multi-tenanted commercial premises in the Toowoomba CBD. The project involved a two storey extension to the existing SABA building, designed to include a hotel and office.
