PROJECT OUTLINE
Precinct Urban Planning was proud to assist Longreach Regional Council in obtaining a Ministerial Infrastructure Designation (MID) and a Regional Interests Development Approval (RIDA) to facilitate the development of the Thomson River Weir Raising Project.
The development involved raising the ‘Town Weir’ and four (4) anabranch weirs to provide a 28% increase in water storage within the Longreach Waterhole. This waterhole is the main water supply for the Longreach township.
Precinct’s scope involved undertaking the planning assessment associated with the Environmental Assessment Report for the Ministerial Infrastructure Designation and preparing and managing the Regional Interests Development Approval.
