PROJECT OUTLINE

Mort & Co Lot Feeders Pty Ltd engaged Precinct Urban Planning to provide town planning assistance to develop a Cottonseed Processing and Lysine Plant for feed manufacturing at Grassdale, Qld. The manufacturing facility will be developed in conjunction with the existing Grassdale Feedlot and associated feed mill on the site. Feed for the existing feedlot is grown on site and imported to the site for processing in the existing feed mill before being distributed across the feedlot. The feed manufacturing plant allows the cottonseed meats and hulls to be processed into value added products, in addition to the on-site production of lysine which was not previously produced on site, and otherwise, would need to be imported from overseas. The product derived from on-site processing will be used in the feedlot and will also be sold commercially. The project is a new use of premises and accordingly comprises a Material Change of Use. As part of the town planning assistance, Precinct coordinated specialist assessments including an Environmental Management Report and Plan plus a Traffic Impact Report. This development application was assessable development subject to impact assessment and consequently involved public notification.
