On 16 July 2013, Toowoomba Regional Council Introduces a Temporary Policy to reduce Infrastructure Charges or Contributions for Development Approvals meeting specific criteria. 16.July.2013

The Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) has introduced a temporary incentives policy, Temporary Urban Consolidation Incentives Policy, where the Council may accept a reduced infrastructure charge or contribution on development approvals meeting specific criteria.  The policy is only effective from 16 July 2013 to 30 June 2014.  The criteria for assessment include:

  • Building works for the purposes of the development application must be substantially started by 30 June 2014. 
  • The development approval must be for a Dual Occupancy, Multiple Dwelling or small lot RAL (Reconfiguring A Lot)
  • The site for development approval is in a location suitable for multi-residential development within the Toowoomba city area (TRC has provided a map which identifies these zones)
  • The development approval must be ‘well-designed’
  • The infrastructure contributions are unpaid
  • The request for a reduction in infrastructure charges or contributions must be a ‘well-formed request’.
